Pentre cottages are set in the heart of Radnorshire and aswell as the splendid countryside walks and views, it also has easy access to the many local attractions. Here are some of the local amenities which we hope you will enjoy visiting while you stay with us.
Elan Valley Visitor Centre and Dams – (16 miles)
​
The Elan Valley is home to Dams, and Reservoirs. The Elan Valley supplies water to Birmingham. It is a special place with a unique landscape, story and history. It provides a beautiful backdrop for Walking and Cycling. This is certainly worth a visit while you stop with us on your holiday. There is a Visitor Centre, a gift Shop and a Café aswell as a lovely large outdoor Children’s play area.

The Lake, Llandrindod Wells – (10 miles)
​
The Lake is popular with visitors and there is a Lakeside Café and Bistro providing light meals, overlooking the panoramic views of the lake and surrounding area. There is a nearby picnic area and a large play area.
The Lake is also popular with fishermen and there is an abundance of wildlife including ducks, geese and swans. The island in the middle of the lake provides an undisturbed habitat for birds, insects and other wildlife. A new addition to the Lake in the Summer of 2018 are the pedal boats in the style of the Welsh Dragon. These allow you to take a relaxed boat ride around the lake.

Underhill Riding Centre – (5 miles)
​
Horse Riding, Pony Trekking, Riding Lessons & Schooling. Contact them to arrange pony trekking, half day rides, full day rides and pub rides. For the more ambitious, take a ride for a whole day, stopping at the local inn for lunch, ride home through the beautiful Radnor Forest and watch out for wildlife.

Quackers Play Centre – (10 miles)
​
Family play centre. Features a 4 lane Astro Slide and one of the biggest drop slides in Mid Wales, a tube slide, roller races, rope bridge, ball pool, softball cannons and double dropslide. Outside there is a large sandpit, race track with pedal go-karts and a nature walk around the lake. Adults are allowed on the play equipment too. There is also a 5 star hygiene rated Cowshed Café serving a selection of home cooked meals and snacks.

The Lavender Farm – (12 miles)
​
They grow and supply gorgeous organically grown and hand cut lavender bunches. Pop along during summer opening hours through July and August and see the harvest in full flow, whilst enjoying one of the famous lavender teas on the lawn overlooking the lavender field.

The Red Kite Feeding Centre – (12 miles)
​
This is a 200 acre working farm famous for the Red Kite Feeding Centre. Hundreds of Red Kites feed here every day. The have general hides for you to watch from, aswell as specialist Photographic hides, both of which are just a few metres away from where the Red Kites are fed. There is a coffee shop and gift shop, a picnic site and a farm trail. Feeding time is 3pm from the last Sunday in March, and 2pm from the last Sunday in October.

Phil Price Rally School – (5 miles)

If you want to know what it feels like sliding though corners, your heart beating overtime to the roaring sound of the rally car with sweaty palms grasped tightly to the steering wheels and smiles from ear to ear – then get in touch! Book up for a 1 day intense course.

Griffin Lloyd Clay Shooting Ground – (5 miles)
​
This is a family business located in the countryside. They offer a wide variety of clay target shooting facilities to suit the expert or a complete novice. They are open for practice and tuition by fully qualified instructors. They have 20 sporting stands with fully automated traps.

Llandrindod Wells Golf Course – (10 miles)
​
There is a Golf Club in Llandrindod Wells and the course is of the highest possible pedigree. They welcome players of all levels to play their historic golf course. It is described as an “Upland Links” course, and provides a true test for golfers of all abilities. Lessons can also be booked and there are Golf Buggies to hire to make the day more enjoyable. They also have an eight bay floodlit driving range to practice your swing and perfect your game. The club house also has a restaurant which has superb views over the town.

Small Breeds Farm & Owl Centre – (20 miles)
​
This is set in an attractive countryside location and has a range of small breed animals, owls and other birds to see. Animals are displayed in undercover enclosures when it is wet. There is a tea room serving hot and cold food, indoor and outdoor picnic area and a gift shop.
Abbey cwm hir Hall – (7 miles)
​
The Hall is open daily through the year for guided tours or individuals, couples, small or large groups. Pre-book where possible. This is well worth a visit at Christmas – all 52 rooms of the house are decorated to individual themes between 1st November – 6th January. Within a setting of breathtaking beauty, history and romance. The Hall and its 12 acres overlook St Mary’s Church and the ruins of the 12th Century Cistercian Abbey of the Long Valley. The gardens are particularly lovely through the months of April – September.

Llanbister Road Train Station (1 miles)
​
The Heart of Wales Railway line is one of the most scenic lines in the UK. It runs for 121 miles between Swansea and Shrewsbury, a fest of panoramic views. The impressive viaducts at Cynghordy and Knucklus are 2 of the 7 bridges crossed on a journey that also includes 6 tunnels. Llanbister Road Railway Station is one of the many stops on this picturesque railway line and is only 1 mile away from your holiday accommodation. Flag the train down and hop on!
Oakerwood Outdoor Activity Centre- (14 miles)
Oakerwood offers paintballing, Quad bike Trekking, High Ropes, Raft Building, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Low Ropes Assualt Course. Great for family activities or group sessions. They are open for PRE-BOOKED activities 7 days a week.
Powys Castle – (29 miles)

This is a Medieval Castle, fortress and a grand country mansion rising dramatically above the celebrated garden. The Castle has an amazing collection of paintings, sculpture, furniture and tapestries. This has a restaurant and a Garden Coffee Shop. The Property is under the care of the National Trust.
Waters Break Its Neck – Waterfall (9 miles)
The Waterfall is 80 feet in height, the waterfall turns halfways down, so you will only ever see the top or the bottom at any one time. The bottom has a walkable track suitable for most. When we have had a lot of rainfall the waterfall can be really impressive. Even with a light flow it is well worth the trip. The local girl Ellie Golding, filmed her video for “Your Song” here. The circular woodland walk leads you to a viewpoint above the famous Waterfall. There are lots of woodland walks through “Warren Wood” in New Radnor where the waterfall is situated
